operational research is procedures or set of tools to solve problems . it's assist to decision maker to find best or optimal solution in many situation . Ir. Budi Santosa, MS, PhD taught me that operational research's standard procedures composed six steps: 1. recognizing the problem how the current situation? where the problem comes? what the expected state to be reach? wich entities involves in the problem? ext. 2. formulate the problem state the problem : set the goal or objective function (minimum, maximum, optimum, ext), determines variable (controllable entities) and parameters (uncontrollable entities), delimit the systems, identify the constrains, and select measures. 3. construct a model the are two group of operational research models: Deterministic models: - linear programming - non linear programming - network optimization - integer programming Stochastic models: - Discrete-time Markov chains - Continuous-time Markov chains - Queuing -
